Collection title is Ecology
This Collection has been created to support Carson Graham's Science 9 classes in their Ecology studies. The collected resources provide some background information and address issues in Ecology. To support your research on the effects of a human/societal behaviour, habit or law on one of the 4 spheres of the Earth, you can use these resources to learn more about Natural Resource Management - or ways that humans have positive and negative impacts on our Earth's Natural Resources.

Ecology is the study of the relationships between living organisms, including humans, and their physical environment; it seeks to understand the vital connections between plants and animals and the world around them. Ecology also provides information about the benefits of ecosystems and how we can use Earth’s resources in ways that leave the environment healthy for future generations.

NASA uses the vantage point of space to increase our understanding of our home planet, improve lives, and safeguard our future. We monitor Earth’s vital signs from land, air and space with a fleet of satellites and ambitious airborne and ground-based observation campaigns. NASA develops new ways to observe and study Earth's interconnected natural systems with long-term data records. Scientists worldwide use NASA data to tackle some of the biggest questions about how our planet is changing now and how Earth could change in the future. From rising sea levels to the changing availability of freshwater, NASA enables studies that unravel the complexities of our planet from the highest reaches of Earth’s atmosphere to its core.

Authentic Scientific Research for High School Students from Cornell University: Ecology is the study of how organisms interact with each other and the physical factors in their environment. Ecologists study these interactions at several different levels of complexity.

This site offers excellent Newsletter about Issues in Ecology. Issues in Ecology reports the consensus of a panel of scientific experts on issues related to the environment. It is an official publication of the Ecological Society of America, the largest community of professional ecologists and a trusted source of ecological knowledge. Founded in 1915, ESA seeks to promote the responsible application of ecological principles to the solution of environmental problems.

NASA satellites and sensors constantly take the pulse of our planet. Researchers apply those observations on local and regional scales to better manage things like food and water supplies, health, safety, land use, and ecosystems. A NASA site that contains an image of the day, global maps, satellite imagery, hands on educational activities and much more scientific data about Earth.

The Encyclopedia of Earth (EoE) is an electronic reference about the Earth, its natural environments, and their interaction with society. The EoE is a free, expert-reviewed collection of content contributed by scholars, professionals, educators, practitioners and other experts who collaborate and review each other's work. The content is presented in a style intended to be useful to students, educators, scholars, professionals, as well as to the general public. Editorial Board The Encyclopedia of Earth is hosted on editors.eol.org, a collaborative editing facility of the Encyclopedia of Life (EOL). editors.eol.org is intended to provide an accessible, open source option for EOL and affiliated partner projects to maintain text content, with custodial access by the partners to continue their work, manage their communities, and keep their content up to date.
